Recognising Our Progress: How Local Advocacy is Transforming the Southern Sunshine Coast

There has never been a more transformative era for the southern end of the Sunshine Coast. From Bulcock Street’s urban renewal to the rapid growth of Aura and Aura South, our region is undergoing a structural shift that will shape our local economy for decades to come.

We are seeing serious momentum landing right on our doorstep, thanks to the State Government’s commitment and the tireless advocacy of our local members. Major game-changing developments are breaking ground, including:

  –  Commencement of the crucial Caloundra Road overpass and infrastructure works on the Southern end of the Sunshine Coast.
  –  Stage 1 of the long-anticipated Wave project.
  –  Approx. 1,000 new residential units streaming into Bulcock Street to boost daily foot traffic.
  –  Commencement of the Caloundra South Town Square and Aura’s town centre development.
  –  Coochin Fields festival site at Coochin Creek establishing Queensland’s largest dedicated live music venue right on our doorstep.

Public investment alone isn’t enough – government commitments require local confidence and strong private-sector backing to reach their full potential. Capital investment of this scale creates a massive multiplier effect, directly benefiting our trades, retail, hospitality, and professional services while creating local jobs for the next generation.

These projects are actively keeping the Sunshine Coast’s iconic natural environment at their core—incorporating extensive environmental preservation, sustainable design, and generous new green spaces for our community to gather and stay connected to the landscape we love.

As business owners and industry leaders, our job now is to show our united strength behind these outcomes. Let’s keep the momentum going, advocate loudly for our region, and build an extraordinary economic legacy together.
